Why is it cheaper to fly via a European hub?
Airlines price routes based on demand and competition. A London→Bangkok direct might cost £2,900 in business, but flying London→Madrid (£80) then Madrid→Bangkok (£1,800) totals £1,880 — because Iberia faces different competition on the Madrid route than BA does from London. We find these pricing gaps automatically.
Are these two separate tickets?
Yes. You book the positioning flight (London to the hub) and the long-haul flight (hub to your destination) separately. This is what creates the saving — airlines can't bundle-price across carriers. We show you both flights and link you straight to the booking.
What about my luggage?
Since these are separate tickets, you'll collect your bags at the hub and check in again for the long-haul flight. Most European hubs are designed for this — allow at least 2–3 hours for the connection. We flag tight connections so you can plan accordingly.
What if my positioning flight is delayed?
Because these are separate tickets, a delay on your positioning flight won't automatically rebook you onto the long-haul. We recommend booking a positioning flight that arrives well before your long-haul departure — our risk indicators help you choose safe connection times.
Which cabin class is the positioning flight?
The positioning flight is typically economy — it's a short hop (1–3 hours) and the savings come from the long-haul leg being cheaper from the hub. Your long-haul flight is in whatever cabin you searched for (business, premium economy, etc.).
